Treasures and Tastes at Trinity Market

Treasures and Tastes at Trinity is a monthly, indoor and outdoor market that showcases and sells a wonderful array of beautiful items that are hand-made, crafted, baked or grown.

On every third Saturday of the month. The next market is on the 21st September 2024.

A love of the Scriptures and a desire to encourage others to read the Word of God inspires Mark in his ministry. For him there is nothing better than to see people growing in their faith through the reading of the Bible.

"Twenty-four ladies attended our third Women's Breakfast for 2024 last Saturday at Chit Chat Cafe in Surrey Hills.

A delicious selection of breakfast dishes, enjoyed by everyone, preceded the main event when we heard life stories from Christine Chelvathurai, Patricia Fincham and Sally James. They kept us enthralled with stories from around the world, visits to the Women's Prison as a mentor and a first teaching post in outback Hay.

Thank you once again to Maureen Ireland and Kaye Ives for organising the event and we look forward to a High Tea at the end of November to round off the year." - Sheila Cooper

Sunday was also our Family and Children's Service at Holy Trinity. It was a great Service about Praying & The Lord’s Prayer. Members of the congregation appreciated the children's insights in how to give God thanks and what to pray for.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated food on Sunday! The food drive was part of our Holy Trinity Harvest Festival Service.

It has been a privilege to donate the food to local community groups as they support many individuals and families in and around Surrey Hills and Mont Albert.

Evensong is this Sunday night at 5pm. The theme will be "Faith and Wisdom" with wine and cheese after the service.

Come and experience the wonders of our incredible Organist and Choir! It is a beautiful Service as we use our voices to worship the Lord our God.

Our Harvest Festival Service is this Sunday!

On Sunday we will be having a Harvest Festival Service at 9.30am along with our Family Communion Service. To help those in need in the community, we ask everyone to please bring along non-perishable food items to be donated.

As part of the Family Communion Service, we will be looking at ‘Jesus and Prayer’. This Service will be teaching families about where and how Jesus Prayed. Children will also be given the opportunity to decide what or who to pray for.

And to make the morning extra special we are encouraging everyone to bring a plate of something exciting to share for the morning tea after the service!

This Sunday, the 25th of August, we will only have ONE Service of Sung Holy Communion at 9.30am.

As this is the last Sunday of Mission Month at Holy Trinity, the Rev Stephen May will join us and share more about the Bush Church Aid Society. Envelopes will be available on Sunday if you would like to make a donation to the work of @bushchurchaid .

Don't forget to join us for morning tea after the service.

Thanksgiving Service

A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Barbara Mary Wheelton will be held at Holy Trinity, 177 Union Rd., Surrey Hills next Monday, August 26 at 11am.

Barbara was a parishioner at Holy Trinity for many years, and regularly attended Sunday and Wednesday services; assisted on the plant stall at the Spring Fair, and enjoyed concerts and special events.

She is remembered with much affection as a vibrant person, and one with a "Joie de Vivre".

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Simon, Stephanie, Paul and their families.

As usual we have a special morning tea after the service to build community. We always have delicious treats for morning tea - last week we had carrot cake!

Tomorrow we will have a Holy Communion at 8am and a Sung Holy Communion Service at 9.30am. August is Mission Month at Holy Trinity, and Rev Mark will be continuing to look at the Ministry of the @bushchurchaid (BCA).

This Thursday, August 15 at 10am we have our prayer service in the Church and our Vicar, the Rev Mark Pearce hopes that you can join us. The focus this week is on our parish, mission month, and our upcoming events.

Tomorrow Wednesday at 10am it’s our mid-week Communion service, and that is followed by morning tea in Carter Hall for all to enjoy.

Our community market – Treasures and Tastes at Trinity is back on Saturday (9am-1pm) with 40 stallholders expected, and a number of them will feature Father’s Day gifts.

After Holy Communion services at 8 and 9.30am on Sunday - the latter being a Sung one, Youth Group is back at 5pm with the theme: Games, Games, Games. It will be a fun way to end a busy weekend at Holy Trinity.

Holy Communion at 8am and a Sung Eucharist at 9.30am.

August is Mission Month at Holy Trinity, and Fr Mark on Sunday will be speaking about what mission is and how we can be part of it, as well as our partnership this year with the Bush Church Aid Society. This Sunday - 9.30am

Our Family Communion Service is back this coming Sunday, August 4 at 9.30am. When introducing the service this year Fr Mark had in mind the overall theme of “Getting to know Jesus in 2024”, and each month we’ve looked at different aspects of his life and ministry.

This month we look at “Jesus the Healer”, and Fr Mark and Sheila will provide examples of when Jesus healed in their teaching.

For the younger children there is always a craft activity which they very much enjoy, and a preview of part of it is provided here and please note the sporting colours!

We hope that you and your family can join us for the service and the morning tea that follows in Trinity Hall.

Evensong - Sunday, 5pm

We would love you to join us for Choral Evensong this Sunday, August 4 at 5pm.

The theme this month is “Mission Month”, and the service includes hymns, psalms, readings with the Holy Trinity Evensong Choir presenting Henry Walford Davies’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in G, and “How lovely are the messengers” by Felix Mendelssohn as its anthem.

The Postlude is “Chaconne” by Francois Couperin, and wine and cheese follow the service for all to enjoy.

Holy Eucharist at 8am and a Sung Eucharist at 9.30am. The anthem during communion is "Brother James's Air" arranged by the English composer Gordon Jacob (1895-1984).

The postlude is "Marcietta (Concluding Voluntary)" by the French composer Theodore Dubois (1837-1924).

Fr Mark on Sunday will be preaching about God’s healing power from personal experience.

Morning tea then follows in Trinity Hall for all to enjoy.

SHO Concertofest

Another concert for the local community to enjoy when the Surrey Hills Orchestra presents their Concertofest 2024 on Sunday, August 4 at 2.30pm at MLC, Kew. Details are outlined on their poster.

The orchestra rehearses each week in Trinity Hall and have been doing that for many years.

Services - Sunday, July 21

Holy Eucharist at 8am, and a Sung Eucharist at 9.30am. The anthem during communion will be: "Panis Angelicus" by the French composer Cesar Franck (1822-1890).

The postlude is "Andante and two variations" by the German composer Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847).

Morning tea for all to enjoy follows in Trinity Hall.

Market Day - Saturday

It’s Market Day this coming Saturday, July 20 (9am-1pm), and we’d love you to come and check out what our wonderful Treasures and Tastes at Trinity stallholders have been preparing over the last few weeks.

Our market covers – Craft, Food and Plants so you get a good variety of things to look at. And for the latest coverage of our stallholders and their wares please check: https://www.facebook.com/TreasuresAndTastesAtTrinity

The main hall where you will find most of the stallholders is heated, and that is also the case in the Treasures Cafe where soup is again on the menu.

The café which parishioners run is a good place to catch up with friends and family members, but should you be in a hurry you can always get a snag from the BBQ team to eat on your way home. And thanks go to our parishioners who look after that.

Thanksgiving and Healing Service

We hope that you can join us tomorrow (Wednesday : 10am), at our special Thanksgiving and Healing service that Fr Mark will lead as part of a Eucharist.

All are welcome, and morning tea will then follow for all to enjoy in the warmth of Carter Hall.

Linking with the community

What a great weekend we had at HT with links to the community through the Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, and The Wiffler Flute Ensemble and Friends concert yesterday with very good numbers at both. And thanks to Leslie and Kaye we have a few photos.

Ken James, an expert in producing local histories was the guest speaker at the breakfast that had 30 men attending. Philip does a great job in bringing the men of the parish and their friends together for these bimonthly breakfasts, with the next one in September.

The Wiffler Flute Ensemble and Friends did give the audience of 90 an afternoon of musical delights, and thanks go to Joy and Fred for arranging it. The concert was in aid of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and just under $1800 was raised.

And next Saturday, July 20 our links with the community continue with our Treasures and Tastes at Trinity market from 9am- 1pm, and there you will find something just for you. The main hall is heated as is the Treasures Café, so do come along and meet others there.
